I did this alone so I has to back tape the hinges before screwing them to the deck facing and the other parts to the lattice. As note by others the screws are not painted. I plan on painting them black. These split hinges are small and for a large piece I recommend looking for a larger product. I used these as hinges for a door panel about 18 inches high and 16 inches wide at about (i'm guessing) 4 pounds. These are nice and should do the job for you. To swing them apart however, you do have to get them beyond 90 degrees, so that's a consideration you should include in your choice of these. **Q: What size screw does this need?** A: I used piano hinge screws. **Q: Could these be used for a screen door?** A: I don't think the hinges are sized large enough to support a door, and if the door hinges on the side, I don't think the door would stay attached as it swings.
