I knew Seth's style. I knew somehow his words would make me feel like I had been hit by a Mack truck. So, I waited...until a week later. I put my big girl panties on and stepped into Cooper's world. Before starting this book I was crazy enough to think that maybe, just maybe, Seth would give us some rainbows and unicorns. Well he did...sort of, just not in the way I expected.He gives us an account of Cooper's journey after Summer. Surprisingly, Seth touched on a subject that most people would like to avoid altogether. He goes into detail of Cooper's internal battle with himself. The struggle is so realistic, that I found myself thinking, 'I know what that feels like'But then he flips the switch in part 2 of the book. Something I did not see coming and made me smile like stupid fool. This part is so unique and unexpected. While I found this particular part intriguing, some readers may not. But then part 3. That's where the good stuff is. This part just gutted me. You know how sometimes you sit and think about a puzzle that you just can't seem to understand? Then all of the sudden an epiphany comes to you, and you actually get it(healing).This is what Cooper's story did for me.Cooper's journey wrecked and healed me. I know that sounds strange, but it's the best way I can explain it. The emotions I felt while reading the book, completely and utterly wrecked me. The epiphany I received in the end healed me in a way where I can say, 'I'm gonna be okay.' What I really needed to understand about my life, came full circle for me. I had a book hangover for days after reading this book.It took me a while to find the words to write this review, and I still feel that my words are not adequate enough to convey my feelings for this book. Seth is and always will be the words Jedi. Always love." ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not what you expect! *by A***T on Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2015* There is no argument that Seth King is one hell of an incredible writer. He is a master of words. I loved The Summer Remains and Autumn Rising so much but they both hold a special place in my heart due to personal reasons. I have also loved some of his earlier work.I liked Invincible Summer and to be honest I wasn't even sure I would, but I didn't fall in love with it the same way I did TSR and AR. It look a long time for me to get through it because I was having a hard time with the path he decided to take when writing this book. I expected to be more focused on Cooper and how he deals with everything after Summer. Oh, don't get me wrong....it's there. Just not how you would think.There isn't much I can say about the book because it would just give too much away. EVERYTHING could be considered a spoiler!There were a few "shockers" that should have had me in tears but they actually left me smiling. We get to to revisit previous characters and are introduced to some new ones. There is a lot going on in the book at times and if you aren't focused on reading it, it would be easy to forget everything.If you enjoyed The Summer Remains and Autumn Rising, read Invincible Summer, but go into it with an open mind. It left me utterly speechless. Nothing has really changed in that aspect, I still feel like any words I can give are just inadequate and won't do this story any justice but I'm going to try and give it the review it deserves.First I'll start with the book itself. It's so much more than you think it is. If you have read The Summer Remains I know you're dying to be back in Cooper and Summers world. Who wouldn't be? I'm telling you, you will not be disappointed. To see more of the story unfold, to get more time with the characters I just completely fell in love with. To get a surprise and see how much more than I expected this was. It was the perfect continuation. It's a book that raises the ordinary to extraordinary. I don't want to give a single spoiler away because you just need to read it and experience every aspect for yourself. All I can say is that you'll fall in love on page one.You know if it's a Seth King novel, the words go deeper than just the story itself. It's going to get to you on a different level. The man can't write a story that doesn't have me soul searching by the first chapter. So I'll go into how the book affected me personally.Have you ever read something that hits you so hard all you can do is stare at the wall in complete silence as tears run down your face? That's this book for me. I think it was 1 am and I was almost finished, I sat in my living room with teary eyes and so many emotions in my heart I just need time to...process. I had to finish it the next morning because it just hit way too many spots for me. I guess what I'm getting at here is Seth King is the only author I've ever read that has affected me with his words so deeply. If your a book lover like me you know how words can heal. One book, one paragraph, one single line quote can make you feel a million different things. My point being, I'll never admit to being a whole person, life has left me emotionally.... damaged, I guess is the best word I can say, and book by book, quote by quote Mr. King is making me feel like I might get to be a close to whole one day as I can. This book hit super personal for me. I know everyone will interpret something different but I know nobody will be disappointed. This book is a game changer.If you're a Seth King fan, buy this book. If your in need of the rest of the story, buy this book. If you want to feel, buy this book. Seth King is taking over and giving new meaning to the NA genre.
