I had gotten away from using belts because I feel support equipment lets you work around weaknesses without addressing them, which just exacerbates the problem in my opinion so straps, wraps and belts were a non-starter for me. However, in looking to address the fact that I had neglected the deadlift for most of my life I got overzealous and tried to make up for lost time and I paid for it. Now I'm using the belt to ease into the lifting so I don't have to stop all together.
