Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X9 (Old Version)

I like this software. I have never done much video editing but this made it easy and fun. The tutorials are easy to understand and follow, and I was able to put together a video with minimal effort. If only the footage I was putting together wasn't so poorly filmed (my fault!).If you are looking for some simple video editing software, this might just be for you.If it wasn't xmas morning and I had more time, I would write up a full review. For now, just know, this is good software at a good price. Now I am going back to watching the ultimate xmas movie: Die Hard.

I have many earlier versions of VS, all of which have been okay, but all have had problems of varying sorts. Crashes are common - this includes VS X9. When the program doesn't crash, it works quite well. Having just installed it on a new computer, I haven't had time to check out all the new features, but have managed to edit a couple of short videos successfully.

I have a nearly new Acer Predator 17" laptop with a sixth-generation Core i7-6700HQ quad-core CPU, 16GB of main memory, a dedicated NVidia GEForce GTX 980M dedicated video card with 4GB of video RAM, and a 256GB SSD. This program aborts every single time I try to run it. I can get a little ways, but within 10 minutes the program will pop up a "VideoStudio Has Stopped Working" dialog box and the program will die.I reported the problem to Corel and they told me to clear my temp files. Awesome. I did a whole lot more research and checking on my own and discovered that if I changed compatibility to Vista Service Pack 2, things worked. Of course, at this level of compatibility this program that was "Optimized for 6th Gen Intel Chips" runs very slowly and single threaded. I told Corel I had discovered this and I guess they decided my problem was solved because they closed the ticket. They sent me a 'How did we do' wherein I strongly objected to having the ticket closed, which they have ignored.I also tried the program on an 8-core Xeon machine running Windows Server 2012R2. On that machine, the program ran but had a very large number of unexpected and unexplained pauses. I reported this information as well.If you can get the program to run, it's a pretty reasonable video editor. Getting it to run, though, is an exercise left to the user.

I've been looking for a cheap alternative to video editing and at the time of my purchase this was priced at $30. I have a PC with pretty good specs (i7-4790k, GTX 970, and 16GB RAM). I don't know how this will run on other builds but I can assure you if you have a decent PC build it should have the processing power to do what you would like it to do.First off, this program is super easy to use. There's a bit of clutter, but eventually, you'll get used to finding where the stuff is that you need. the learning curve isn't that high for the really basic stuff. Most of what I do is cut, transitions, zoom, etc. I don't really mess around with too much of the more complicated stuff.As far as the program, it's not the best, but it's AMAZING for the price. I don't think you'll find another video editor for the price that this is with the same performance. There will be a bit of load times between pressing play for the preview. It's a second or two. It's a small thing that I hardly notice.The rendering is good and you can make a few different profiles on the settings you prefer to use. I also checked out Sony Movie Studio 13 which is at around the same price point and nowhere near as good. It also has free learning resources (videos) and a free 30 day subscription to learn some video editing. I didn't use all of it because I got busy but some of the videos were super helpful.

I can live with the user interface which I don't think is great (compared with, say, Camtasia, which is not exactly for video editing but has some shared functionality) but I'm prepared to accept that this is just because I haven't spent a lot of time with this product.But I found I had the software just locking up at various times, forcing me to kill the application, restart, and redo whatever last step I was busy with. I also found it had a hard time working with certain types of otherwise legal video files (like an MP4 exported from PowerPoint) that couldn't be mixed in with other video content.Or, rather, it would let me mix it in but then not produce any output!In the end I managed to work around the various limitations and get my video produced but it was far more painful than it should have been.

Product works well for my animations. I can add music and put small clips together very easily. Looking forward to doing even more as I learn more how to use the software!

I was used to using the Windows Movie Maker. In that Program, I could burn a DVD. Easy to understand. Plain and simple. Microsoft forced Windows 10 on me. Windows 10 did away with the DVD burning portion of the Program. Corel is good for the expert user. But for Grandpa that is making Family movies of his Grandchildren playing Sports its too involved and time consuming. I don't need 95% of it. They have workshops that end up costing more money and just not necessary for my purposes. Windows Movie Maker with DVD burner was perfect for me. Wish they had left it alone. Don't fix it if its not broke.

Best video editing software for the money. My copy of Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X9 has allowed me to edit my video footage, add effects and share it with friends and family without hours of reading or stress. The application is fairly intuitive and the more you play with it the more features you will discover - even without looking at the manual. Obviously the online manual and other resources will have all the information you can gather but it's simple enough to use without a training course.

At first I was disappointed due to the way it is packaged but now I am very satisfied

J'avais déjà Studio 12 et j' aime bien celui-ci, mais je ne connais pas encore toutes les possibilités. Je reçois parfois par courriel des démonstratins du produit, mais c'est toujours en anglais, j'aimerais bien en recevoir en français...
