I was a little sceptical about these, but they actually heat up very well themselves which helps create a nice char on the surface of things. I've used for veggies and sausages/hot dogs and have had great success. VERY easy to clean in the sink - haven't felt the need to put them in the DW yet but wouldn't hesitate to do so.
