Does it have a slide-out tray?** A: Abby, it has four doors that can open in and serve as little landing pads for the birds or open out. There is no slide out tray and this is actually a benefit. To change the bottom of the cage, simply pop up the two baseclips and pick up the birdcage, set the birds aside over some newspaper perhaps, and change the base. I removed the grate, wipe it off , put it in hot soapy water, then do the same with the base and then I use corn cob shavings in the bottom. No need for lining paper. Put the grate back on, put the birdcage back on the base and put the clips down. This may sound very complex but it is so easy it now takes me 10 minutes to change a birdcage instead of a half an hour. It's easy to wipe out the plastic bubble area like a little viewing window of the base by just wiping it with a dampened paper towel. This is the most hygienic birdcage system I have ever used and I have had birds most of my life. Can't say enough great things about this birdcage. **Q: How can one solve the lack of external perch for a cockatiel?** A: Buy one **Q: Do you think this would be too large for one lovebird? I want my bird to have plenty of room, but not too much.** A: Aim for the medium-sized cage. There's plenty of room in that one.
