The people on here saying it won't work as a 1 wire are ignorant to 12v automobile charging systems!!! They think they know but they don't! It works with 1 wire or 3 if you know how to correctly excite it. You may have to hit it with 12volts for a few seconds to build residual magnetism in the stator. If you don't know what I'm talking about then I suggest you study up before installing this alternator. Self excited still may need to be manually excited for the 1st time. Then depending on how much amp draw and load you may need to find tune the output or you'll be the guy saying " worked great for a couple of months then burned up".
