It protects my boots and gives life to old dead leather and works well on new leather. This stuff WILL darken the leather, I expected this before using it. So if you want to keep that lovely tan or light color to your boots, you may want to look else wear. After the second of third treatment it darkens the leather, this is just a natural process. My biggest surprise came on a hiking trip with a new pair of Danner boots. You expect boots to get worn on rough terrain, but I went through a rocky stretch and knew I was chewing them up. However, this product seemed to protect them from the usual scuffs and abrasions much better than I'd normally expect from an initial outing.As stated on the jar, it's a water repellent and not a water proofer. It doesn't seal the leather like silicone based products, but to my mind that's a good thing. (Trying to make leather impervious to water is a fool’s errand, and ultimately likely to lead to dry rot--wear rubber boots if it’s that wet!) I could tell the waxes kept the rain and moisture away and made it easier to clean at the end of the trip. ### ⭐⭐⭐ I had high expectations for this product.
