Review: My favorite American Revolution book for kids and beautifully illustrated - This is my favorite American Revolution book for kids. I got it for my 7 year old to read before our trip to D.C. This book has a perspective I have never seen in a kids history book. It has a British/King George point of view as compared to the American perspective. There are snapshots of important battles, key points, and is full of information I found interesting or was new to me. For example, there are pages of what ranks and what uniforms looked like on both sides, which is super interesting because we've always seen the "red coat" uniform, but this book had various other ranks and what their uniforms looked like- and this is from both the British and American side. My 7 year old will pick up this book on his own and go back to the illustrations that he likes. His favorites are the illustrations of British tax collectors getting tarred and feathered, and the Boston Massacre where one of the red coats is about to get hit in the head with a plank of wood. The illustrations are wonderfully detailed and I love the thought bubbles and quotes captured within the illustration. I also have a 5 and 2 year old, and this is pretty much over their heads (even though the 5 year old is really interested in the pictures), so I would base on my kids' experience that the best age for this book is around 7 to 12. I highly recommend and am thinking about getting a second copy since my kids are kind of rough on books.
Review: This is a great book for the American Revolution! - This book is great! We are using it for our fourth grade homeschooling with our American Revolution unit. I am a judge a book by its cover girl and I was immediately drawn to this book! It gives an introduction to both George Washington and King George and then goes through several small chapters, 1. at first glance 2. a look at the life of King George and his countrymen, 3. a look at the life of George Washington and his countrymen, 4. how government worked in England 5. How government works in America, 6. The trouble with taxes, 7. The tempest over tea, 8. George versus George, 9. The shot heard round the world, 10. British forces, 11. Rebel forces, 12. A new nation, 13. The tides of war, 14. The final battle, 15. No kings for America 16. Whatever happened to King George the third 17. What did George Washington do next. Most of these little chapters are about 4 Pages long with half of each page being a picture so really easy for your child to read alone or for you to read out loud in little sections there is one section the tides of war that is several pages long without as much picture. The pictures are really bright and colorful and are fun to look at and my son enjoy those just as much as he enjoyed the reading of the actual book it gives a lot of information without being boring and kind of sums it up really well ! I would highly recommend this book for anyone talking about the American Revolution!!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent history book for kids
*by L***N on October 17, 2024*

As a homeschool mom, I’m always looking for books that will teach my kids something and hold their attention. This book definitely hits the mark! My kids learned so much about the American Revolution and it did not feel like we were reading a textbook. Highly recommend!
