## Questions & Answers

**Q: will this connector work for my royal cash register? I have bought scanners for the register, but wonder if the USB scanners may last longer.**
A: This is a serial to USB converter, not vice-versa. If your scanner has a USB connection already, then this item is of no use to you. By the way, less and less laptops (and I would assume desktops) come equipped with a COM port (that is why I needed this converter), so opting your USB port for a COM port sounds more of an own goal. Perhaps I misunderstood your question.

**Q: is it prolific**
A: Prolific chips often exhibits erratic behavior with some serial devices.  The reliable chip is the FTDI chip.

**Q: Will this work to connect a computer to a CISCO Switch via the console cable?**
A: Yesssss its a great usb to serial cable

**Q: I assume this will plug and play with WIN10 64x ...? thanks!**
A: It is just a cable so I would assume so.  My husband uses it with his Windows 10 laptop to connect to his telescope.

Many of these adapters have questionable compatibility. They will work for one device and not for another. I am writing this review to sat that this device will work the Lenovo Yoga 910. If you have this laptop, get this.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good active converter.

Using this to communicate with PIC micro-controllers using a CCS serial port monitor that is built into their compiler and it is working perfectly. Install the drivers and the program detects the comport properly. The only thing that I don't like about it is that it needs to install the drivers every time you plug it into a different usb port and each usb port is then a different comport, so if you switch usb ports remember to change the setting in you serial port monitor to make sure that you are reading the correct port. Other than that it is solid for a solid price.
