Aimed at the ceiling it can light the room, tap the button once more and it is on dim mode, saves battery life. It took three days for this beauty to run out of juice, it had only been charged once two years ago when we received it, tossed it in a drawer and forgot about it. This and it's little brother the E300 were the light that was in high demand, so we had to have another one. This is our second one, my advice get two of them, because when you need a bright long lasting light these will do the trick.One piece of advice:If you are using it on high for long periods of time it tends to get warm, there is a dim mode that is pretty bright as well, but it will not get hot so fast, and you can stretch out the battery longer. I saw one review complaining about the LED burning out I would have to say he ran it on high till the battery died along with the LED.Also DO NOT SHINE IT INTO ANYONES EYES!!!! This thing is crazy bright, I think there is even a warning label on it. The dazzle mode is what you see cops using when approaching with gun drawn that high speed flash (DAZZLE MODE) confuses the brain. Upon taking a closer look something inside the head of the unit came off and was blocking the lens so I unscrewed the head to see what the problem was. Afterwards a metal washer and a plastic "cover" piece came off and out of the unit, so I put the metal piece along with the cover back securely onto the LED and reassemble everything back only to find that the entire thing stopped functioning. I attempted this 3 times and still nothing. This was suppose to endure hiking trips and the outdoors yet it can barely survive mild usage inside a household setting, my cheap $9.99 walmart flashlight lasted longer this thing. Too bad I can no longer return this.
