Pedro Alba works in the style of Mexico's traditional Talavera pottery, creating an elegant ceramic cross to display on the wall. - Hand-crafted item -- color, size and/or motif may vary slightly About our Artist: 'I learned from an early age to work hard to be able to provide for one's family, because I had to work when I was in primary school,' says Mexico's Pedro Alba. 'I've taken quite a few ceramic courses around the country and my technique is completely handcrafted. Over the years my workshop has grown to such an extent that I can now offer work to people in my community.'

You may not be able to see it in the picture, but the yellow dots and lines actually have volume and stand out from the surface of the cross like little lines of frosting. Rich, vibrant color, very high quality. It has a nail hole at the top of the cross. It is all porcelain or white clay. Its molded, sort of like a plate, from a sheet of clay that's about 1/4" thick, but its laid over a form so that the edges of the cross are more like 1/2" or 2/3" thick. Its hollow behind.

Its beautiful. Very carefully painted, and well made. Bought this for my daughter when she thought she lost the Talavera Cross she recently purchased when we were in Ensenada on a cruise. Even though she did find it, I'm giving this to her for Mother's Day because it is so amazing. By the way, this is a lot bigger than the cross she bought, and was less price than the one she bargained for! I know she will be thrilled! The colors are so vibrant.
