While anticipating the need to better discern the balls especially on small screen devices, Aramith developed the new Aramith Tournament BLACK set. This set features a light purple to replace orange and a lighter green to replace the darker one. As for the black design on the striped balls, it was first designed for the nine-ball game to better distinguish the 9-ball with the 1-ball. Featured on all striped balls it is an innovative and groundbreaking look.

Review: Excellent Ball Set - Many people are unaware that pool balls do not stay true to their original size over time, especially the cueball (involved in every collision) and 1-Ball (often racked in front). I own a finely machined device that checks the size of pool balls within an extremely tight tolerance of 2.25" in circumference. I measured every ball in this new Aramith set and each was perfect; whereas, a few balls (e.g., cueball) in the set I am replacing have, over several years, worn down more than 3/1000 of an inch. In addition, I particularly like the coloring of these balls, especially the stripes with the black vs. white complement. I am very satisfied with this purchase and packaging, shipping, and delivery were excellent.

**Q: My table has black felt. Thoughts on getting these pool balls for my table?**
A: My table has maroon/claret cloth and daylight flourescent tube lighting; the "Black" balls are gorgeous and easily identified. A friend has a Diamond table with tournament blue cloth and incandescent lighting. We both concluded that the "Black" balls are not ideal for his table. I would not recommend this ball set for very dark cloth, most especially black. It might be OK if you have extremely bright lighting and a color temp ~6500°K.
