Not hot grease, nothing much will really protect against that. The other comment about the wax washing off, well I've never had that problem and I only put 2 coats on a huge bookcase and a window frame. **Q: Is this a good cover for old scratched furniture?** A: Not the clear. Use a shade of briwax that matches your furniture. I love briwax , but Old English or Restore-a-finish is better for scratch cover. **Q: Can I used this on lacquer finished furniture?** A: Don’t know. Don’t think it would harm the furniture but don’t know how much good would do. I have usually used on old wood and antique things where it leaves a beautiful, clean satin like finish.
