The thickness is minimal so it is comfortable even if sometimes your hand is on the edge of the pad (half on pad and half on desk). First day it had some curve to it because it came rolled in packing, but it became perfectly flat on the desk in a day or two. The surface being fabric, collects some dust though but I think its not a deal breaker. Lighting was easy to set up using Steelseries GG software and looks gorgeous. It provided an added benefit of making my custom keyboards sound profile a little deeper (which i like) by adding a layer of dampening as opposed to placing my keyboard directly on my solid wook desktop. I particularly love the Titan, Warlock, and Hunter logos on the bottom right although they are slightly rubberized/textured which did interfere a few times with my mouse.
