They are easy to carry and sturdy enough that I feel confident using them on uneven ground. I especially like the natural cork grips. They hold up well, feel comfortable in the hand, and do not develop the same odor issue I have noticed with neoprene-style grips. I also prefer aluminum poles because they feel strong and dependable, and I like knowing they are less likely to shatter under traumatic stress compared with carbon fiber. Overall, these are excellent trekking poles for hiking and outdoor use. They feel well made, practical, and built to last.
