Like if you are replacing a windshield, do not remove all of the original sealant from the window frame and or windshield. As for the caulking gun you need to have a gun with a decent squeeze ratio. A typical cheap $5-10 calling gun with a 1-2 or 1-4 ratio will not work. I believe the sealant recommends something like 24-1 ratio. I used a $13 12-1 I picked up from ace hardware it was a little more work but did the job. **Q: Will pre heating this stuff help with pushing it thru the calk gun?** A: Yes,it helps. **Q: is it black in color?** A: Yes. Pitch black. Make sure to use a powered caulk gun! **Q: Does this cure hard?** A: Yep. This stuff was gnarly though. Don't ignore the advice of others when they say that you need a motorized caulking gun -- this stuff is THICK. There is no way I would have been able to do this without one. Also, make sure you draw a box around the entirety of the window so water doesn't leak in -- I made this mistake, but was able to remedy it by putting some clear silicone around the edges of the glass.
