This one will do the job and is probably the best in it's price range. I'm not just a blow-hard cheap guy that doesn't what he's talking about. I own leupolds, burris', nikons, vortex' and I even have one of those old simmons predator quest scopes, lol!Weavers are bright, priced cheap, hold zero, and are durable. I can save $500 and shoot the same amount of fox and coyotes with this one ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Four Stars *by B***D on February 15, 2018* Great scope ### ⭐⭐⭐ Bright glass, questionable sights *by E***N on February 3, 2014* This is the 3-9x40 model (preceeding the Kaspa) series with Dual X cross hair sights. Bought this after reading several reviews & reputation of the Weaver brand (this model has the older 'W' logo on the badge, rather than the newer 'Weaver' logo). Cost is anyware from $40 to $90 on the internet, for this discontinued model. You get what you pay for...read on:PROS: I first compared the lenses clarity and brightness to my old Simmons 3-9x32 by placing the two side by side; clearly the Weaver was much brighter and had sharper lense quality as compared to the Simmons. At this point, I mounted it to my 270 and headed to the range.CONS: Went through a box of shells & just coudn't seem to get it to sight in on target at 100 yds or 150 yds. It was money everytime at 50 yards, but for some reason wouldn't hold zero beyond that. Not sure if it was lemon, but I will have it prefessionally looked at. (My older Simmons would sight better than this one). Groupings in this Weaver were all over the map inside of 12 inches....no matter how many times I adjusted the elevation and windage.Will be replacing it soon & give a follow-up review.FOLLOW-UP (Spring 2014):Went back to the range with this scope and set up some more targets at about 150 yards. This time I used a different grain shell (130 vs. 150) and had better luck with groups inside of 6 inches. Still not great for that short of distance. I also had my son take a few shots to use his eyesight instead of mine. He was grouping inside of 4 inches. Still not perfect, so something was off. Originally, I blamed it on the scope or the mounts, and sure enough when I got home later the rail mount screws (not the scope) had come loose. Then put some Loctite on them & re-set the screws. Will head back to that range for another review.....hopefully the issue is not the optics in this scope.
