Review: Nikon D7100 y 18-140, pareja de enamorados - Este es el mejor zoom de marca Nikon que he tenido, por las razones que más abajo citaré. Hace un tiempo tuve el Nikkor 18-70 mm f/3.5-4.5 G IF-ED AF-S DX y el Nikkor 16-85 mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED VR AF-S DX. El primero de ellos venía en un kit con la Nikon D70, y era muy nítido y bastante bueno en general. Ahora ya no se fabrica. El segundo, el 16-85, que todavía se fabrica y se puede comprar bastante más caro que este 18-140 en desertcart, tiene una fama que no se corresponde con la realidad. El Nikkor 18-140 mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED AF-S VR DX es mejor que los dos que acabo de citar, mejor, sin duda, que el 16-85, pese a ser mas barato, tener más tele y ser una "lente de kit" (viene en conjunto con la D7100 o con la D5300, entre otras cámaras). Mis razones: 1) Con la Nikon D7100 este objetivo es capaz de dar mucha nitidez (si se lo trata bien, claro está: hay que exponer con corrección, hay que utilizar la velocidad adecuada, etc.), más, desde mi punto de vista, que el 16-85, y su alcance lo hace un todo terreno excepcional, puesto que para un viaje, por ejemplo, no necesitaremos otros objetivos. 2) Tiene un desenfoque de fondo bastante elegante para ser un zoom de precio comedido, sobre todo a partir de 100 mm. y en f/5.6. 3) Entrega muy buenos colores, aunque esta es una característica común a todos los zoom de la gama DX de Nikon, al igual que el buen funcionamiento del estabilizador (el 18-70 no tenía). 4) Para las distancias focales que abarca, no es excesivamente grande ni pesado. 5) Es muy rápido y preciso enfocando y hasta el momento no le he encontrado ningún tipo de defecto óptico, tipo "front-back focus", pues siempre enfoca donde apunta el fotógrafo. 6) No he visto, por el momento, ningún tipo de distorsión (aunque la cámara la corrige), ni de aberraciones cromáticas. Sí que he apreciado un poco de viñeteo en determinadas condiciones de disparo a 18 mm. y poniendo la cámara en posición vertical, pero nadie es perfecto. 7) Tiene una distancia mínima de enfoque bastante interesante, y por eso se puede jugar a imitar macros (he hecho algunas tomas así que no se diferencian de las hechas con un macro de verdad). En resumidas cuentas, hace un equipo muy bueno con la D7100 (y más que un equipo, una gran pareja: tal parece que estuvieran enamorados). Por el precio que tiene da resultados fenomenales. Absolutamente recomendable. Edito para poner un detalle después de unos días de uso: a 140mm. y máxima apertura (f/5.6) el objetivo produce un viñeteo bastante acusado, por lo menos al disparar en raw. Nada, por otra parte, que no se pueda corregir con suma facilidad al procesar la foto.

Este es el mejor zoom de marca Nikon que he tenido, por las razones que más abajo citaré. Hace un tiempo tuve el Nikkor 18-70 mm f/3.5-4.5 G IF-ED AF-S DX y el Nikkor 16-85 mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED VR AF-S DX. El primero de ellos venía en un kit con la Nikon D70, y era muy nítido y bastante bueno en general. Ahora ya no se fabrica. El segundo, el 16-85, que todavía se fabrica y se puede comprar bastante más caro que este 18-140 en Amazon, tiene una fama que no se corresponde con la realidad.
