It works better because it is moist heat, not dry heat. It goes around the waist easily and includes an additional small extension for those that are larger round the waist. I use the moist heat for 20 minutes and then 2 hours later ice (yes, put it in the freezer) my back. Two hours later I start the process again. Good quality. Check out their other products for different areas of the body.
