The fiber, imprinted design, and vinyl backing are holding up very well. The one negative review here apparently referenced the wrong welcome mat, that of another company. I have not seen any staining beneath this one, and I think the vinyl backing would prevent that. This one is on the thin side, about 1/2" or so thick, but that's what I needed with my security door clearance, and it functions well. I highly recommend purchasing this.
