It'll look too thin when you pull it out of the package, but once you get all 48 pencils inside, somehow it works! Not the fanciest case on the planet, but it doesn't try to be - the goal is to fit 48 pencils without a lot of fluff, which it does well. There is a fair amount of room (1/2"-1") on either end of the pencils before you get to the zipper, which I think is a good thing so that the sharpened pencil tips are somewhat protected.
