It’s an 1155 socket using a 3770k. I wanted a cooler that would take the stress of an overclock and didn’t wanna spend a fortune on something this old. The Cooler is well packaged and does feel decent quality in the hand. It comes with all the fixings you need to fit it to practically any CPU. Followed the instructions during the set up which was very easy. No problems at all getting it fitted to my Z77-GD55 mobo. I didn’t use the supplied thermal paste so can’t comment on that. Only real negative is I can hear a slight high pitched whine coming from it but nothing too annoying. The tasty bit of this review is what did I manage to squeeze out of my old i7 3770k? The answer is 4.6Ghz with a voltage setting of 1.4 and my temps during a stress test maxed at 97 degrees on core 2. This is acceptable for the CPU I’m using maybe just a touch over what I’d like. I’ve been able to get quite a few extra fps out of the games I play, mainly single player stuff. Something you’ll notice about air coolers is they tend to let the temps shoot up before really doing something about it. As opposed to liquid coolers which I hear tend to be on top of it all of the time. Still a great buy and I’ll probably move towards liquid cooling when I want a serious upgrade.
