It's meant to help keep your core in your internal pressure your stomach contained. When lifting heavy you tend to put a lot of pressure on your core and insides. The bell helps keep that together and stabilizes your core. It does not protect your back. It's not a therapeutic back brace. There are back braces designed for that and then there are weight lifting belts that are designed for weightlifting. This one here is one of the best ones I've had. I love, absolutely love Gymreaper products. I have every single item they have as well as clothing. I get asked all the time in the gym about this product since I advertise it on my T-shirt. I referred a lot of people too these belts and they also absolutely love them. They're also compact You just roll it up throw it in your bag. Unlike your professional power lifting belts that are hard leather.
