The first 15 months MJ worked flawlessly. But starting in late October, 2010, when I reboot my computer MagicJack often gets stuck not signing in and showing an "Error 3" instead. This has happened five times in the last two months and each time a MagicJack tech, accessed using their chat, solved the problem in different ways but after several hours of my time.So I purchased this device to at least use as a backup when MJ is not working and maybe to replace MagicJack if it continues to be unreliable.The setup of this device was easy. I am using it on a WinXP computer. I installed Skype 3.8 since there were reports of problems using newer versions of Skype. I already had a newer Skype version installed, which I forgot about, and when I downloaded and installed the 3.8 version it replaced the newer version, after asking me if that is what I wanted.The only problem I had was that when I started the SkypeMate program I apparently entered the wrong option on the screen that is suppose to allow SkypeMate to control Skype and so when SkypeMate started its icon was showing a grey background rather than a green background. This was clearly discussed in the manual that came with the device and it referenced me to the problem page that discussed how to fix that. The instructions on that page did not quite match Skype 3.8 as it said I needed to go to the Skype Tools - Options - Privacy whereas I found I actually needed to go to Tools - Options - Advanced - "Advanced Settings" in order to find the "Manage Other Programs' Access to Skype" and change it.Once I got that right phone calls worked fine, and voice level and quality was good in both directions. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sound Quality - No Drop Calls *by D***E on Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2010* I bought this device after spending many months of frustrating times with D-Link adapter and so far have not had any issues with the sound quality or dropped calls. Works best with our 4 handset cordless phone in the house. Skype lets you make $2.99 calls all US and Canada.For those who can't figure out why Skype is not dialing from the regular phone here is a quick note on what I have found after an evening of trouble shooting.Using the USB-B2K adapter and a home cordless phone set with Windows 7 and SkypeMate, I was finally able to get the phone to dial out.The key seems to be that: You cannot use the compact version of the Skype Window AND the keypad must be displayed. With that combination the phone would dial out using the format of: 1 555 555 5555 and then press talk on the phone.However, the issue is...after you complete the call the Add contact window comes up and replaces the dial pad (even though under the view settings the dial pad is selected) after that you cannot dial another number until you reset the window on skype.I went on the web and found a 3.8 version of Skype and installed it on my Netbook with XP and installed Skypemate and hooked up the USB-B2K and was making calls in about 15 mins.The issue seems to be the 4.x version of Skype and the way it handles the dial pad. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars Cant get it to work horrible instructions no response from seller *by J***O on Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2010* the manual does not show what line you have to hook up to the adaptor - it just saysd connect to a PSTN line I dont know what that is or where to find it no diagram or picture. then it says to connect to my phone, but does not say where and how.When I plug in the USB to my PC my sound stops working on my computer. The software instalation instructions are poor and they are in black and white so you really cant tell what is what.Whe I install the CD none of the drivers work and the software is not automatically installed you have to search for it and install it. There is no explanation of how this software works with skype or even how to use it. No explanation of settings or how to configure them.
