Carib Sea Purple Up Algae Accelerator is an 8-ounce powder designed to enhance the growth of desirable pink and purple coralline algae in reef aquariums. It effectively raises essential trace elements like calcium and iodine while preventing the growth of nuisance algae, making it suitable for all pet life stages.

## Description

PurpleUp - uses a unique dual method approach to coralline algae acceleration. This approach is so unique that PurpleUp has been awarded a US patent (US patent No. 7,565,883). It contains ionic calcium; which immediately raises dissolved calcium levels in your aquarium water. At the same time Super Sea Calcium (a 10 micron aragonite powder derived from natural seawater) targets the live rock surface. This dissolves in situ; delivering calcium, strontium, magnesium, and carbonate right where it's needed. PurpleUp also replenishes iodine; an essential element for coralline algae tissues that quickly becomes depleted in closed systems. PurpleUp is not a fertilizer, it does not promote the growth of nuisance algae.

It does raise the calcium and alkalinity which are the two benefactors in how that corline algae grows. If you do have any speckles of purple on your rocks or glass the stuff definitely will accelerate the growth and also keep your SPS happy. Now the negative side! desertcart desertcart, what the hell is wrong with you people jamming products into a paper bubble envelope and expect it to survive? The bottle was as should be placed in the sealed plastic bag to protect against leakage. When I opened up the plastic baggie there was condensation inside and the label on the bottle was starting to wrinkle up. And on the back side where the directions are some of that label is missing. Thankfully I've used the stuff before and know the dosing requirements but for a first-timer using this stuff they would need to get on to the internet and find out exactly how much the dose your tank.

A: Just checked the bottle and I didn't see any.

**Q: does this work if i dont have any corraline algae yet?**
A: I did not have any obvious coraline algae and used it once. I had a huge mess as the green algae bloomed everywhere. I changed the water and cleaned the filter adjusted the lighting timing and the next morning the algae bloomed in an overabundance. It took 3 water changes and 4 filter cleanings to get it under control. I threw it away but your experience may be different.

**Q: Will this harm invertebrates?**
A: Nope, not at all. Just check your levels (you should do this anyway). Been using this stuff for years! Good for any hard corals and coco worms too. Makes everything nice n pink n purpley!

This product works just as advertised. I may not add daily as it suggested but I had an issue that wiped all my coralline algae out. I saw nothing but a tiny spec of coralline left. I started adding this product daily for a few days and it started to bounce back. It is now all over the tank again. I probably remember to add it only a couple times every week and things are staying healthy.
