Review: Scout Dad - I have been camping a lot with my sons in Boy Scouts and have used a tent with various sleeping pads. I had back surgery 5 years ago, and weigh 260 lbs and have a real hard time getting comfortable on the ground. The pressure points really do me in. I read about hammock camping and decided to give it a try. I used the Hennessey Jungle Safari Zip on the next campout. The first night was different because I did not hange the hammock evenly and found myself not being able to get comfortable. The next day I adjusted the hammock and was able to lay flat on a 30 degree angle that night. It was the most comfortable sleeping night camping I have ever had. I will only use my hammock from now on. There was a bad thunderstorm that second night with 30 mph winds and I stayed completely dry. It was amazing.

I watched some youtube videos for setup and chose to use Gorilla straps/Caribiners as well as using two rappel rings on one end to easily tighten the hammock, which worked perfectly. I also used a separate cord for the rain fly, which placed the rain fly a few inches higher than the hammock ridgeline, giving some breathing room and allowing breeze into the hammock. The hex rain fly that comes with this model is large and covers the hammock very well. I'm 6'1" and about 230lbs and I was quite comfortable, able to sleep on my back and also on my side which was excellent.
