It uses the description PATA technology which is the same thing as IDE that is found in older PCs like the one I'm keeping alive. I also discovered that XP does not like to go above 128 MG so I quit fighting that limitation and just underutilize the drive or partition it into to logical drives. **Q: is it up to date?** A: I ordered one in October 2018 from AMTECH and the unit that was delivered was manufactured in May 2011.
