Display/dial is easy to read. Day & date clear (I didnt see another model that showed day and date in separate windows - makes it easy to read). Also, the numbers light up in the dark because they are coated, I understand. I read somewhere that self-winding watches slow down if not worn for > 8 or 10 hours. So far, I havent see it (I have had this watch now for about 10 days.) One little bump I ran into was that the first jeweler I went to didnt know how to take some of the links out of the wrist strap - and they actually sell Seiko watches. The second jeweler did, but it took 2 trips to that jeweler before it was a good fit. [Why dont they design the straps so we can adjust it at home with eye-glass screw-drivers?] Also, the instructions come in a small fold-out page; no manual. On account of the above two points: the 4-star rating, not "5". On the plus side: the watch came in a elegant (leather-covered?) box. Very nice. The supplier (K.G. Company) packed this item very well and it was delivered on time. However, note that if you get free shipping from them, if you have to return it, you pay to ship it back + a $10 restocking fee. All said and done, a very nice watch at a very reasonable price and a good buying experience.
