## Description

Designed for accurate and easy bending of hard metal tube, the RIDGID 38033 Heavy-Duty Instrument Bender produces high quality bends with much less effort when compared to conventional benders. The tubing bender easily bends materials such as stainless steel, steel and titanium to a maximum of 180 degrees. Made to keep bends in-plane and accurate, it features a simple two-stage design that allows for bends from 90 degrees to 180 degrees without ever crossing handles. Users can easily lock and unlock the tube bender with a half-turn rotation of the bending handle. For improved accuracy, roll dies in the bending carriage reduce tube flattening (ovality) and the amount of force needed, while gain marks on the front ensure properly aligned bending angles. For reduced force, a vise clamp built into the bending form delivers extra stability and extra-long 16-inch (40 cm) handles offer increased leverage. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this tool do reverse bends?**
A: I'm not sure what you mean. The bending action is by a roller forming the tube around a fixed disk with a 1/8" radius groove, so it only makes one bend at a time but you can make it do an "S" bend as two consecutive bends.

**Q: Can i use a 3/16 line on this? i understand it’s for a 1/4 od**
A: Sorry to say no but the bends will not be without some flattening of the tubing. These are awesome benders but they need to be used with the correct diameter of tubing. It's possible you might find a tightly coiled spring with an OD of 1/4 and put your 3/16 inside to bend. Or just use the spring benders. They work the same as I mentioned but without the bender. They are OK unless you have a lot to do. Or use a multi style and wing it with that. They are also cheap to buy.

**Q: Is the .625 bend radius going off of the inside or center line?**
A: It is the center line.
Tried to take a picture of the instructions but wouldn't let me. But it shows the center radius. I hope this helps

I'm always use the other guys that are way more expensive but I decided to buy my own set of benders instead of using my employers. I'm always used the other brand that's like five times as expensive these are really good the only thing I don't like is the stationary handle is at an angle so I guess there's more room for your hands when you get to 90°. I don't like that I wish it was straight so you can use it to level up the tube with it being at an angle it makes it more difficult to eyeball. I've been bending tubes for many many years so if I say it's a good Bender, it is.
