The deck is approaching 20 years old and in great shape, but being a 35' long by 12 wide deck 14 feet off of the ground and over a lower deck the same size, keeping an eye on the 8x8 supports is a yearly thing to be safe. Still "dead on level" after all of these years, 1 of my 8x8's on the corner has some minor splitting but also had a slight "bow to it" (the other supports don't get the weather as much as the exposed end support). I purchased 2 of these to support the corner on each side of the existing post to replace the corner 8x8. For safety, I did actually pour 2 piers below grade so they had a good base to support the deck while I removed and replaced the 14' tall corner support (and added a second one).
