However, when I received the cover, I noticed there is a radiant barrier installed on the inside. I noticed it helps keep temps lower by blocking radiant heat when in the sun **Q: Can T60 fridge with cover on be transported long distances in the bed of a pick-up truck without making the unit overwork from the sun & heat?** A: Good question. I'm happy with it's performance. I transport it in the bed of my pickup. The issue is, I haven't really gone "long" distances. Our favorite campsite is about 50 miles away. We've taken it there several times (r/t). But it's sat in the back of F150 for weeks and weeks, so I'd guess I have 400 miles on it. My truck has good suspension and i'm mostly on road. So.... "long" distances in the "bed of a pickup" can mean many things. It takes normal transport well, it's been stored an run a bit "off level" a few times. I personally specifically bought this based on the LG compressor. They have a very good reputation. (sorry, you asked about the cover, I'm talking about the cooler). I had a software issue with Alpicool and they were VERY responsive and offered to replace the unit, I took a $50 rebate cuz it was a display issue and the bluetooth interface worked better anyway. I REALLY like and trust this thing. With my limited knowledge of refrigeration (BS Engineering, took Thermodynamics), here's what I think. Compressor type fridges don't like to be unlevel much. Being bounced around could create some of the same problems being off level, i.e. liquid coolant reaching the compressor. Here's what I believe and what I might try. Put it in the back of your truck. Maybe put it on a soft-ish pad, like a sleeping bag pad or some foam . Keep it as level as possible. If you get into really serious s**t, turn it off to protect the compressor. This cooler (LG T60 Alpicool) cools down so fast, has good insulation and is SOOOoooo efficient, (runs about 5X to 10X longer than a peltier (e.g. Koolatron) device, that turning it off for a few minutes won't hurt it. Back of pickup on a regular, or even country, or highway road, no problem in my experience. I like this thing. It will run on a 12v battery forever compared to my Koolatron. So I'm a fanboy. Can you "beat the snot out of it"? I don't know. But I don't baby it when i'm loading it , unloading it, driving. I've never gone rock climbing with it. I think I've had it a little over a year. VERY happy with it. **Q: Can you plug this into a cigarette lighter?** A: Not sure if it can be plugged into a cigarette lighter. We had our Alpicool fridge hooked up to a rechargeable 12-volt battery while driving cross country. We would plug the battery in to recharge it when we stopped to camp for the night, and it would then last the entire time we were driving to our next destination. This battery is a fast-charging one, but because it was a gift from our son, I don't have the details on it, but it made things so much better for us while traveling!
