Review: CHANGED MY LIFE!!!!! (Also, tips for before/aftercare to reduce irritation!!!) - FINALLY!!! I have tried EVERY SINGLE hair removal method out there. I've tried everything from laser hair removal to creams to masks to just about every gadget on the market. Laser hair removal is great and all if you're someone who can constantly spend thousands of dollars--because let's face it--as much as they want to tell you that it's permanent--it isn't. It reduces it fairly well but if you don't keep up with it, it's not permanent. So of course, I had to opt for a cheaper alternative. I tried waxing and that was a disaster on my face. The next day I had disgusting pimples all over my face and some of my skin would rip off and it was always just so messy and frustrating for me. Epilating is simple, clean, not messy, and doesn't rip my skin off and make me break out like crazy. I tried creams and those burned my face literally leaving what looked like rug burns on my face. I tried threading, etc etc. You get the point. So after trying everything I just settled for shaving. Yup. Cheap. Quick. Easy. And left my face smooth for almost a day. I've had to shave my face for over 10 years and as embarrassing as it was and even though it left my skin irritated in certain areas, I really had no choice and just eventually accepted that this was a part of my routine. I always wanted to try an epilator but just couldn't narrow it down to the best one--up until now. If you're anything like me and someone who absolutely hates the fact that they have to deal with this issue every single day--then you really won't care how much pain this is (and it realy does get less painful over time I promise!!!) because I'm the happiest woman alive to know that this handy gadget is going to remove my hair from the root and keep my disgusting hair issue at bay for longer than a day!!! I will say that this thing HURTS LIKE HELL the first few times (I use it on my face, and yes, it works wonders on my face, much better than the ones that are designed for facial hair. Because let me be honest, I am not trying to remove peach fuzz that most women are so embarrassed about--I WISH I HAD PEACH FUZZ!!!--I am an Italian woman and my facial hair is dark and thick like my damn leg hair (I'm SO lucky! NOT.) So I wanted the best of the best. If it claimed to be a BODY epilator then you bet I was going to get it for my FACE that resembled BODY HAIR! UGH! SO GROSS. Whatever, I've accepted it now. Things could be worse.) I absolutely LOVE this product and I am the happiest woman in the world right now! I can't believe I waited this long to purchase this! And for this price too!? I am SO ECSTATIC like this is seriously changing my life and increasing my self esteem dramatically. I don't care how painful it is, I don't care that there is a ton of redness and bumpiness after using it, I don't care that I have to plan my day accordingly (like having to skip exercising for 2 days since sweat can bring in bacteria and cause irritation and pimples...or that I have to skip wearing make up and basically be anti social for 2 days to let the irritation die down) I JUST DON'T CARE because it is WELL WORTH IT!!! I want to make it VERY CLEAR that this gets better over time! I promise! The redness subsides the more you use it because if you haven't pulled out this much hair all at once before, your skin is going to react, and the more you do it, there will be less hair to pull. The reason for this is because unlike shaving, you are completely removing the hair follicle at the root and it takes much longer to protrude out of the skin than with just shaving, which is only cutting the part that is showing and not removing it. Also, PLEASE remember NOT to be discouraged for several weeks when there is hair still showing up! All hair has different life spans! So the ones you remove today, will NOT be the ones you remove tomorrow. Be patient. Stick with it. This has absolutely changed my life and I used it for about a month so far and I have absolutely loved it. I can't believe I don't have to shave my face every day anymore! I can't stress enough to BE PATIENT with this process. You will have to endure some painful redness and bumps for a little bit, but it contiues to get better and better over time. If you can get through the beginning stages (as with anything in life) than this will be life changing like it has been for me. I think I am on the last couple of stages of hair growth for all follicles (like I said, each individual follicle is on their own stage of growth) so once you can kind of get through that begining stage of getting all of them out, over time you won't have to do much maintenance anymore! For anyone who has been suffering for a while with embarrassing facial hair, I want to leave you with some amazing tips for your before and aftercare to help you reduce all that irritation and inflammation and ultimately shorten the amount of time it takes to heal. I have sensitive skin so if this stuff works on ME then it will definitely work on YOU! I'd like to point out that I do not use the cap on this when I am epilating. I have a feeling that this may be why some reviewers are saying that this thing doesn't work. This thing definitely doesn't work if you put that efficiency cap on it. The cap is optional to put on and it is more for people who haven't ever used this before and are a bit timid of having the blades so close to the skin. I don't use the cap and this thing works PERFECTLY. Before you epilate: 1. Plan to epilate at the end of your day when you know you won't be going back out and can have as much time to recover as possible, so your recovery period can be overnight during your sleep. For me, I can get away with doing it midday on a Sunday where I know I'll be relaxing at home and where I know I don't have to go to work the next day on Monday. 2. Make sure to wash your face and EXFOLIATE your skin. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP because it reduces the risk of ingrown hairs and those pesky little white heads! 3. Epilate with a DRY face. You can add BABY POWDER to your face so that the epilator catches ONLY the hair and NOT your skin. If your skin is even slightly damp, it will catch your skin. After you epilate (CRUCIAL STEPS!!!) After epilating, it is imperative that you take certain steps to reduce your risk of irritation, redness, and getting bumps. If you're like me, you totally will get all of that, but it's okay because it is well worth it and if you plan it well, it won't be that big of a deal and just be a necessary part of your routine, just like everyone else has certain routines for their care as well. However, I just started using this product so I'm sure the amount of irritation will die down, as I have read with many people's experiences with epilating in the long term. After I finish epilating, I gently wipe my skin with a damp, warm towel, just to get off any excess hair and really just clean up the area. Then I apply Tea Tree oil to the epilated areas to keep the now open pores clean. This combats bacteria very well and it doesn't sting. Next, I cut off a piece of my aloe vera leaf (which is nice and cool because it is stored in the fridge) and rub it on. THIS WORKS WONDERS! Aloe vera is the most amazing natural medicine for skin issues like burns, cuts, wounds, irritation, etc. It is amaaaaazing! You can get a whole leaf at Whole Foods or Sprouts or other natural grocery places. I prefer the leaf because I KNOW that it's 100% aloe! Then when that's about halfway dry, I put calamine lotion right on top of that. You can honesty skip the calamine lotion but I just wanted to take extra precaution. The aloe is the main star of the show here and if you don’t want something noticeable on your face, just stick with the aloe. I leave it on for as much time as I can. So some days it's just on all day. At least try 20-30 mins if you can't do that. Watch the magic happen! I also make sure to take a NSAID right after as well to help reduce the pain and any swelling. A NSAID is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory which is a fancy word for ibuprofen (Advil) or aspirin. The reason why you wouldn't want to opt for an acetaminophen (Tylenol) is because it isn't anti-inflammatory. It helps with reducing pain but it is not considered a NSAID and we want to reduce inflammation after the skin has been tugged on a lot during epilation and thus causes an inflammatory response of the skin. Although this seems like a lot to do and sounds as if you're getting pretty beaten up, I mean, epilation is pretty brutal on the skin so I know that I want to do the best that I can to reduce as much irritation as possible and this definitely does the trick. One thing to keep in mind is that all hair has different regeneration periods so don't be discouraged when the first time you do it and the next day there is some hair coming in--this is simply the other hairs that were not protruding enough and/or not protruding out of the skin yet. They are NOT the same hairs that you just epilated, they are the other ones that are on a different hair growing schedule. Just go back over these or tweeze them if there aren't a lot. Hope this helps some of you.
Review: After a brief affair with this device, I went back to shaving - Are you a real woman? Have you suffered through your own hymenal rupture, birthed a child or suffered the stinging agony of being rejected by a man? Have you reflected with rue upon a dinner party you ruined through your own juvenile, drunken antics? Then you are ready for this product. It hurts, but it will enchant you for a short while because you want to feel tough. Actually it only hurts the first few times, but then you get used to it. I was excited to try a new method of hair removal. I don't know what my beef is with shaving. I mean, nothing is going to get you smooth like a razor blade. I also thread my eyebrows. You might say I enjoy maximizing my hair removal repertoire, as in my mind this equates with maximizing my womanliness. Your first time: So upon tibial touchdown, I felt an electrifying jolt of pain - much like that of a thousand hairs being torn from their follicles all at once. Enchanted, I continued to wave this magical device over my lower limbs, waiting to see if the pain might be any different if I kept on going, or if it was just going to continue on. It continued on. Soon, however, after several passes, my leg began to feel silky. Not shaved-silky mind you, but more than silky enough. I realized that meant I was done. I was pretty disappointed at the brevity of the encounter, so I promptly moved on to my armpits. The armpits were really fun to do. Did you know your armpit hairs are, like, an inch long? You will, once you use this product! Wow. This thing worked perfectly on my armpits. Better than the legs, and the legs were pretty good. I tentatively moved to the crotch area, but I'd just gotten out of the damn shower and I was too moist for there to be any traction. (Do not try this.) Later, I gave it a shot. Ouchhhhh. It results in a very smooth bikini area, no question. In fact, this product works better on stouter hair. So I moved up to the quintessential delicate area of the upper lip. Like the slap of a burning hot rubber band, my 'stache was GONE. It took several passes, ostensibly because I was a first-timer and my lip hair was unaccustomed to such insult. But you gotta grow up sometime, lip hair. Might as well be today. Still, again, it was not as sleek as a razor by any means. Easily one of the most exciting things about using this product is the sheer volume of hair that comes out of the thing, much like a lawn mower. I've never seen anything like it. And not only the hair comes out, mind you. Oh no. You get the entire hair bulb. I had this friend in high school you know - beautiful girl - and her prom dress was strapless. But she was a full-blooded Italian lass and heaven help her, you could see her dark armpit hair shadow every time she hoisted her arms to do the YMCA, in spite of the fact that it was clear she'd just shaved. This could have done her a world of good. So I will continue using this for pubic and armpit hair (nice long lasting results on the pubic area, somewhat less long lasting on armpits) but I won't be using anything but a razor for legs or stache. First it takes too long, second it is painful, and third you really don't get that sleekness you get from a fresh razor. Still, Recommended highly for how great a job it does on coarse hair. If you have coarse hair all over, this might be a great solution for you. Protip: after epilating, always disinfect. You will get pimples if you do not. Personally I recommend purel even for the pubic area. It burns of course, but you just ripped out the hair on your vagina. What do you care? Also there is a special sphere of heaven for women who can address those stout hairs on the labia area just above the clitoris with an epilator. I can do it. So can you. Actually, I don't recommend this any longer. The hairlessness doesn't seem to last that much longer, and I got tired of infected follicles. I did disinfect the rotating portion of the device regularly, after each use. But the bacteria must hide in all those cracks and crevices. I have returned to shaving. The results are instant, they don't result in pimples, and the effect is, overall, silkier. But heck, give it a try. Much like other aspects of passage into womanhood, first it hurts, then you get used to it, then you sort of like it, and then you get bored with it and try something else.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this be used on legs after 2 days of regrowth after shaving, i can't stand hair on my legs for any longer than that?..**
A: It depends on how fast or slow your hair grows. If after 2 days you can't stand it, then I would say yes. Me personally, yes, I use it after two days and this is why. Prior to purchasing it I let me leg hair grow for over a week. Drove me insane! But I had all my hair growing out so when I did use this, I got it all rather then deal with having more the next day since your hair grows in cycles. A few days later, I noticed TONS of ingrown hairs!! Omg I must have had a hundred of them! So I pluck and dug and plucked away for most of the day. I had even been using the exfoliating rags every other day! I also noticed when it pulled the hairs, most of them didn't have a root, and you know what that means....it broke the hairs rather then pull them out! Hence, the ingrowns..... so now two days is tops for me. If you leave the purple guard off, it gets right against your skin and as long as your skin is tight, it won't pinch or grab you and it pulls the hair by the root better.

**Q: does it work with 240V or only 110V because i want to be able to use it on my vacation in Europe**
A: It works for both. I use mine in the Philippines where it's 220V.

**Q: how long is your hair gone**
A: It grows again 3-4days after I remove my hair with this product. So it's kind of inconvenient to make this noise 1-2days a week, and it takes a long time since you have to do more than twice until all of your hair is gone completely.

**Q: It says in reviews and description ok for facial hair - but box instructions say only use on legs WHY is that and can it be used on the face?**
A: For men on face it is painfull like hell probably causing inflamation. But I use it to remove mustache and it works perfectly and I will explain. Before I had a treatment to make the moustache hair thinner. So it is easily removed today. But sometimes some hair from the beard is caught and the skin becomes red and inflamed. Besides de pain. For women I believe the hair are not so strong and thick to this point.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ After a brief affair with this device, I went back to shaving
*by L***E on February 27, 2015*

Are you a real woman?

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Baby Smooth Pits
*by W***3 on January 2, 2016*

I did a lot of reading into epilation before I bought the Philips Satinelle. I exfoliated and shaved several days before the first use (and exfoliated again minus shaving the day of first use.) The product came as described with an extra long cord, making it easy to move around the bathroom. This little baby is pretty loud, but my sleeping husband and toddler did not wake up in the next room. I successfully rid the hair from both arm pits in one sitting. From the reviews I read I have to say it was not nearly as painful as I thought. It stung a little afterwards but within 30 minutes my underarms had no red bumps and were so smooth! I did not use deodorant for a day to be on the safe side. I also did not have discomfort at work that evening. The following day I used deodorant and everything was fine. Not having shaving irritation is wonderful! I have had to shave my armpits TWICE in a day that's how fast the hair has come back. Once a day minimum. No more! It's been 3 days and my armpits are smooth as a baby's bottom literally! Onto legs: I have attached a picture for you to see. I followed all the recommended exfoliation procedure, went slow, and held it at a 90 degree angle and my legs had a lot of red bumps. It took much longer than anticipated to get both legs (knee down) complete and I still could not get all the hairs. I'm still learning so I won't let one time discourage me. Some say those bumps lasted for days and even weeks of irritation and leading to ingrown hairs but this is false for me. My legs did have the same light sting afterwards that they do after shaving with a razor. Used my moisturizer and the sting was calmed within 10 min. Thankfully the next morning my legs are almost fully cleared! However not all the hair is gone, so my legs aren't baby smooth. It's definitely a learned procedure. Skin comes in all types of sensitivity levels so I agree that this form of hair removal isn't for everyone. For lack of a better word it's pretty "rewarding" if it works!! Yay smooth arm pits!! Left most image in my picture shows my leg after I soothed it in cold water, you DO NOT use water while you are using this epilator! UPDATE: I love this thing. Did some more reading, hair and skin grows in rounds and layers so it's nearly impossible to get my legs completely smooth, however I used it several more days in a row and got my legs satisfactory. A week later and they still feel/look less than 1 day razor shaving stubble. THE RED BUMPS WERE ONLY A "FIRST TIME EPLIATING THAT AREA" IRRITATION. No red bumps on all subsequent rounds. Used on inner thighs near bikini area and have had way more success than a razor. After 24 hours red bumps gone and no shaving irritation. My armpits are still smooth! Not having shaving irritation or fast hair regrowth is amazing. Now that my skin is used to it I can actually sit down and touch up whatever needs it without having to waste my time and water shaving in the shower! Another plus: normally you would want to shave/be hair free when going to the beach or swimming so shaving right before the event makes sense? Until you get in the water and your legs are burning because you shaved either the day before or the day of? NOT ANY MORE! Once your legs are used to it the faster speed is no longer intimidating. Extremely happy with how this epilator has worked out in so many ways!
