How To Prep A Brand New Stone Bowl For First Time Use Step 1: Fill the stone bowl with high density of brine, bath for 72 hours. (to soften the inner walls of stone bowl) Step 2: Pour away the brine, if used on an open flame, place the stone bowl upside down with low heat, best for oven heating. (to completely dry the remaining water) Step 3: Coat a layer of the mixture of salt and oil on the entire stone bowl, wipe it twice before it cool down. (to create a protective layer, prevent the stone bowl from absorbing external water) Now the stone bowl is ready for cooking! **Q: are these oven safe if so to what temp?**
A: Yes, they are safe for use in ovens:) and they can withstand oven heat up to 392 Fahenheit.

**Q: Is the granite polished inside? I want to use unpolished granite as a mortar bowl to go with with my wooden pestle**
A: It is NOT polished inside. Must be “cured” by soaking in heavily salted for 48 hours and then scrubbed with a brush before use.

**Q: Can this be placed on a glass electric cook top or convection cook top?**
A: Yes. It's not quite as effective as putting it on a gas cooktop where the flames can come up the sides, but it will work.

**Q: Where are these made? Country of origin?**
A: They are made of stone but I don't know which country it was made in. It works great!
