It also contains borax. After heating, this will eat your mirror, fluxing away the metal coating, and the heat required will destroy the glass pieces. Use the soft solder flux instead also by Harris. Lower temperature, and a bit less active, being an acid flux. Keep it off the mirror coating. I would also try a liquid rosin flux as for electronics, but it may not be active enough for the pewter canes. The pewter develops oxides pretty quick. I had seen so many people use precoated brazing rods or dip in borax when hot and braze just fine. I couldn't get it to work. And I needed to do some silver brazing anyway. Finally just ordered the good stuff and it worked PERFECTLY! This jar will last me decades, as will the Harris silver solder/braze stuff I bought. You just need a thin film, and the silver will flow like water. Used sparingly there isn't much to cleanup, but if there is a little black crust it can be cleared up with a squirt of water or a rub with a wet rag. It does settle over time, so if you don't use it often there may be need for stirring the liquid back into the paste.
