We received this pump in ONE day! We upgraded from a 1 to 1.5 horse power and we can see a big difference. This pump is so much more quiet than our old Hayward pump. The old pump was here when we bought the house so not sure about it, we kept having to replace the motor and a "pool guy" suggested we move up a 1/2 horse power since our pool size was near the top of the range for the 1 horse power. My husband and his friend were able to install it themselves. The local prices were almost double. They had a little trouble getting it to prime, but then realized they had one piece of piping installed incorrectly, once that was corrected it started up fine. When you look in the "tank" the water is so clear it looks like it is empty. I highly recommend this pump for residential use. ### ⭐⭐ Buy the extended warranty *by A***R on July 1, 2018* Leaves pass through the strainer basket and clog the impeller. I have had a pool in FL for over 20 years. Had 5 or 6 pumps during this time. Never had this problem with any other pump. If you are still under the Hayward 1-year warranty, the only way to service is with a service call. If it is not the pump's issue, be prepared to pay for the service call. That is how I learned the leaves go through the basket and clog the impeller. Now I must check the impeller about once per month to clean out debris with my shop vac. The motor did die before a year. They replaced it. But lasting less than one year??? WTF.
