The first time I used I was not sure I was doing it correctly, it left behind a strong odor that I can't even describe. After re-reading the instructions, I checked the unit & found the inside filters were set in the wrong way and I corrected it. I turned on again with the fan at its lowest level, making sure no other options were turned on and this time it made a difference. The unit itself is sturdy which is nice since my cats seems to knock everything down. It can be quiet, really depends on the fan setting.
