**Q: Is this made in the usa?  i wish amazon was like ebay and you could hit a button to only go to things made in usa.**
A: Made in China via LaCrosse, Wisc., according to the box. Still, it's sturdy and measures rain well.

**Q: Great question concerning the front yard.  I don't have a yard at all, it is a ranch. Will the 704-1531 still work or should I consider another model?**
A: It should work fine in any "open" area.  You can stick it in the ground or mount on a post/fence.  Just make sure not underneath a tree or something.  Also make sure you mount it in a way that you can empty it after gaining the measure you are tracking.

**Q: Is this a 12" OR 5"  gauge???**
A: It's 12" tall but measures up to 5" of rain.

**Q: Where can I get the mounting hardware “sold separately”? This is so dumb**
A: Yes any screws that have a head smaller than the holes in the gauge base
