The pattern is nice and nostalgic. However, the fabric must have come from two lots - one a good dark black pattern and the other is more faded and "washed out" looking. (Nothing that I noticed when I gave them, but now a little embarrassing that I didn't notice.) These are not truly slip-on - the heel is too soft not to fold under your heel, so you need to pull it out if you don't want a mule. The sole feels bumpy, and due to its flexibility you'll feel any rocks, but they're fine for a quick jaunt outside. I wouldn't call them flimsy, but don't know that these will last a long time.
