The Microware HDMI to HDMI converter allows the HD Source connected to single HD Display and adds extra one L+R and SPDIF audio out port. Our devices offer solutions for noise, space and security concerns, data center control, information distribution, conference room presentation, school and corporate training environments. This device can extract the digital 2CH PCM stereo audio signal from the HDMI input and convert it to 2CH analog stereo output through its RCA style L/R analog output AND SPDIF output at the same time. The SPDIF output can support 5.1CH audio including Dolby Digitla 5.1CH and DTS 5.1CH; it does NOT support Dolby Digital Plus and PCM 5.1CH and beyond. **Q: I got this with a rca to female 3.5mm connector to use with wired headphones & I cant get it to function, am I doing something wrong?**
A: ** Just to be more sure. I just went and plugged MY Standard wired HEADPHONE into my RCA to 3.5mm female jack on my audio extractor, and turned on my TV. Seems like the volume is one steady LOW volume through standard wired headphones,so it seems YOU will need some type of amplifier/pre-amplifier to raise the volume of your standard headphones. I tried upping the volume control on my TV's REMOTE CONTROL and it had NO effect on the headphone audio volume at all.  I have used a wireless headphone through my 3.5mm jack previously and it does have an amplifier so that way it did work ok for me in that manner. BUT you have made us all aware that this audio Extractor doesn't amplify any volume to a standard pair of headphones. Thanks for that, we all learned from your message.

**Q: If i have it extract rca for my zone 2, will it still pass video & audio out hdmi to my main receiver?**
A: If it doesn't...as Musou mentioned, this is not positive, as most often want/need the audio to pass thru HDMI for audio out of the TV at all times, and to also have analog audio passing via zone 2 at all times in parallel and simultaneously.

**Q: Can i use this to connect a soundbar that uses optical digital audio & hdmi to a samsung tv that doesn't have optical digital audio but does have hdmi**
A: Yes, it is made to split the audio out of a hdmi connection. If your tv has a hdmi out that is. Most TVs do not. But you could split your audio out of a cable box, blue ray, or whatever you are connecting to the tv.

My only option for decent audio on a HP Pavilion Envy with a nVidia 3070ti was using its HDMI Audio. USB audio options would lock up Win11 do to a USB power issue with the MB, there is no expansion for internal Sound Cards and the onboard is extraordinary pathetic for a gaming PC. Win11 kept messing up the settings with a Denon X2800H AVR and blocking a straight nVidia HDMI Denon ARC to HDMI Monitor connection at random. So I tried this Musou 1080P HDMI Audio Extractor to Optical Toslink(SPDIF) and it is working so far with no hiccups or glitches. The Denon saw the Optical Toslink(SPDIF) audio connection right away and sound is working very cleanly. Win11 recognizes I am connected from nVidia HDMI to a MS-HDMI-RX device. Win11 doesn't recognize a Optical Toslink(SPDIF) connection as the nVidia HDMI is the primary connection and the Denon is just a passthrough. This explains why it won't see a 5.1 connection on the Denon as HDMI is 2 channels, not 5. Nevertheless, a very inexpensive workaround for my PC rig that works fine. The Denon put the soundstage in Matrix Mode with headphones plugged in which is a ProLogic mode that turns out very good clarity and sound for voice & music. I know there are many different reason people use this converter with hit n miss. It was a home run hit for me
