It has little icons for different "aspects" of a creature (herbivore, carnivore, omnivore and also type of creature - bird, mammal, reptile, dinosaur etc). The evolution chart goes all the way from Precambrian to modern human, and my kids now can tell me more about australopithicus and neanderthals that I know :) I put it up on the wall close to the floor and put a rug and pillows by it, and boys spend a lot of time trying to find dinosaurs and other creatures and figuring out when they existed and what they ate and they make up games with it.I was actually trying to find a map with the continents they way they are today, and different places where we have found the fossils, but this one actually has the land mass as it was in some random period of time in earth's history - which I wish was different - but the kids love it, and are learning something from it, and its an interesting colorful addition to the playroom, so no complaints.
