Sodium fluoride is the listed ingredient in this product, it is inorganic and added to dental products to reduce bacteria and improve oral health. Used topically and spat out (as in the case of mouth wash) has been found to very effectively reduce dental disease. There is evidence (controversial as always, please do your own research) that when fluoride is swallowed in excess it may have negative effects on the body and on enamel development causing some people to want to avoid it all together. The personal conclusion I have come to is that topical sodium fluoride (as in the case of this product, as long as you spit it out) can without a doubt contribute to good oral health, but swallowed sodium fluoride may have side effects at high levels so personally I will avoid ingesting it. **Q: Is this cruelty free / without animal testing?** A: All Waken products are cruelty free. Their website does confirm this. But, after reading one of the answers on here I’d like to point out that, just because a product is vegan, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s cruelty free. **Q: Fluoride is a registered neurotoxin, are there any without fluoride?** A: From their website: Sodium fluoride is an important ingredient in Waken’s formulas. It means that our mouthwashes help prevent tooth decay. Fluoride is the most effective treatment against cavities. There is a view that fluoride is not safe but according to the NHS, reviews of the risks have so have no convincing evidence to support these concerns. **Q: RE: the bottle. My council will only recycle plastic packaging with either number 1 or 2 on it. What number has this bottle got on it?** A: It’s a 2 plastic -fully recyclable and made from recycled plastic ## Frequently Bought Together - Waken, Spearmint Fluoride Mouthwash for Bad Breath, Helps Protect Against Cavities and Plaque, Alcohol Free Mouth wash, Strengthens Enamel, Vegan, No Added Colours or Flavors, Award-Winning, 500ml - Waken, Peppermint Fluoride Toothpaste, Helps protect against cavities and reduce plaque, No Artificial Colours, Thoughtful Packaging, Recycled Aluminium Tube, Vegan Toothpaste, 75ml - Waken Whitening Mouthwash, with Added Fluoride, Prevents Enamel Stains, Helps Protect Against Cavities and Reduce Plaque, Alcohol-Free, Vegan, Recycled Packaging, Natural Peppermint Flavour, 500ml --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.tn/products/292518866-enamel-care-mouthwash-alcohol-free-with-natural-mint-extracts-12hr](https://www.desertcart.tn/products/292518866-enamel-care-mouthwash-alcohol-free-with-natural-mint-extracts-12hr) --- *Product available on Desertcart Tunisia* *Store origin: TN* *Last updated: 2026-10-10*
