I personally didnt over tighten but some people will and the bushings could keep them from damaging the gate.This gate fit my cardinal stair gate perfect. I had no issues with it other than knowing that I will have to keep an eye on the bolts. Probably pick up lock washers next trip to hardware store. But for the money that they ask for the extension I shouldnt have to pick stuff up.All in all very happy once i got it installed. ### ⭐⭐ Returned. *by J***L on Reviewed in the United States on 4 December 2019* I had to return this as it look like a swimming pool fence. My husband’s installation wasn’t very good either. I also found the latch not as easy to open.
