Perfect experiment, I thought. The green ones still glowed very brightly and although not bright were still visible 12 hours later. These things are really amazing. **Q: what color is best** A: Depends on your use... for brightness, without a doubt green. 2 reasons to get technical, first the chemical make up allows that color to glow brightest, and second is that the human eye sees this color better than any other light wavelength. If you're looking for "flares" though and need red, your best bet would be a strobe light. The red snap lights are good for low-light needs (hence using red lens flashlights in the military to read maps as the human eye doesn't pick this light up at low levels), but nowhere near what you would need for safety. Blues and whites are in the middle but don't nearly as long -better off with a LED flashlight. Go green... **Q: Can they be stored in freezing temps in a car?
