Review: 何度聞いたかわからないほど、繰り返し聞いたアルバムです。 1stも好きなのですが、聞いていて感情が揺さぶられるという点ではピンカートンが勝っています。 グランジっぽいノイジーなサウンドと、お腹の中から絞りだしたようなリヴァースの声も含めて、このアルバムからは自分の心のなかに淀んでいる不安や苛立ち、疑問などが噴出したかような熱を感じます。その熱が、ウィーザー節と言ったらいいのでしょうか、どこまでも切ないメロディラインと融合しています。 歌詞を読むとわかりますが、このアルバムの歌詞は、情けない心の叫びのオンパレードです。歌詞カードを眺めながらピンカートンを聞いていると、どんなに求めても得られない恋を求めて、「なんで？」「どうして？」って嘆いたり、ちょっと落ち込んだり、元気を少し取り戻して笑ってみたり、逆ギレしてみたり、顔じゅう鼻水だらけにしながら泣いてみたりするリヴァースの顔が見えてくるような気がします。 重苦しい空気でTired Of Sexが始まり、段々盛り上がって一気に轟音の世界に引き込まれて、聞いているうちにどんどん感情移入してしまい、アルバムの一番の盛り上がりどころであるPink TriangleからFalling For Youのあたりでは、泣きそうになってしまいます。 泣き虫ロックという言葉は、まさにこのアルバムのことを指すためにある言葉でしょう。傑作です。
