## Description

"I tell everyone I know to try sprouts and microgreens. They are incredibly easy to grow, you get results in just a couple of weeks, and they are so good for you. I love the recipes in this book—such great ideas for ways to eat one of the best-kept secrets in gardening."—Stacy Tornio, author of Plants You Can’t Kill Learn how to grow (and consume) sprouts, shoots, and microgreens at home without using expensive or complicated equipment—all you need is tap water and a glass jar, and you're ready to go! This is an easy, fast, and smart way to fit healthy greens into your diet. Following Lina Wallentinson's instructions, in just a few days, you'll see dry seeds transform into burgeoning green sprouts. In Sprouts, Shoots, and Microgreens , Wallentinson proves there is much more to shoots, sprouts, and microgreens than the classics cress and mung beans and that they are truly easy to grow, no matter where you try to do so. All plants in this book can be grown in jars, colanders, sieves, or bags at any height, using many different kinds of light sources, and even under pressure. In addition to showing how to grow shoots and sprouts, Wallentinson teaches how to make delicious meals with your harvest. Using step-by-step pictures and descriptive recipes, she demonstrates that shoots and sprouts are much more than just decorations on a plate. Recipes include sushi rolls with quinoa and wasabi mayonnaise, baked pumpkin with lentil sprouts and almond pesto or coffee, and coconut balls with toasted buckwheat!

Review: Surprised by how much I loved this - I don't see myself trying any of the recipes, but they are cool to see and I wouldn't want them gone. It's cool to see so many other ways to use sprouts and shoots! I'd done some searching online, but no info was quite as helpful as the info this book provided. It helped me realize why some of my shoots weren't quite working out. I appreciated so much of the descriptions and the frankness about the author's preferences while still giving clear guidance. There were two things I didn't like: the recommendations for where to find seeds and the surprising sprouts. As for the recommendations, I'm nitpicking. For some reason, only specialty stores carry certain peas and seeds, so the advice isn't applicable to me. And the "surprising sprouts" were all the sprouts I'd come across already. Obviously these two things don't affect my rating. Not huge deals to me that the author wouldn't know what my local stores carry and what seed sites I find. For me, the fact that I can potentially grow from things I already have surprised me. I thought they'd have more processing, but I may have been wasting my money. Only time will tell. I still might buy from seed sites instead of sprouting all my lentils, for example. If you're interested in this topic and haven't really gotten far in internet searches, give this a try!
Review: clever uses for sprouts and micros - Thorough growing tips and details on the various seeds and legumes. Unique recipes and ways to use your greens. Good read! Thanks uh

This is pretty interesting book. I haven't tried all the recipes yet, but I learned alot about different kinds of seeds you can sprout and ways to save money doing it. Any one who enjoys cooking and gardening should read this and then they will know what to do with all those extra seeds at the end of the seasons.
