I'd suggest calling a roofer if you need to use this on your shingles. You can apply it to the shingles on your body then call the doctor in the morning. It will keep the shingles sealed and prevent leakage until you can get to the doctor. **Q: is this food grade? or can i use this on ovens and BBQ grills? it will not directly touch the food but there is a chance that it will. thanks** A: I sent an email to Permatex regarding the use of this specific RTV Silicone product (81160) to seal a gap in a steamer used in my sandwich shop (gap between 300 degree F steam generator basin and steamer housing). Their response indicates that NONE of the Permatex products are certified food safe: From: Permatex - Product Application Sent: Monday, August 16, 2021 10:14 AM To: Pete xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: Permatex - Answered Subject: RE: New submission from Product Support Form Pete, Our products including the Red RTV Silicone is not FDA or NSF certified for indirect and direct food contact or for drinking water applications. Don Sutliff Senior Product Support Specialist ITW Permatex, Inc. 6875 Parkland Blvd. Solon, Ohio 44139 Apparently, Permatex is focused on automotive applications so food safe certification is not something they are concerned about. There are other brands of RTV silicone sealers that are specifically high temp food grade , such as ASI 502 and Sil-Bond "Food Grade NSF FDA RTV Silicone Sealant Adhesive Red High Temp". **Q: Is this compatible with differential fluid?** A: Yes, 81160 is used on the differential cover. **Q: Can I use red etc for interior application on a tin ceiling with exstream heat from the Fl sun ?** A: this is over kill but yes... are you trying to seal a leek or just hold things up?? this is a sealer not a contact cement. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good. *by on Reviewed in Saudi Arabia 13 November 2024* Working nice. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Au top rapport qualité prix *by on Reviewed in France 24 October 2019* Produit au top je l’utilise depuis des années et rien a dire il fait sont travail ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 大変良い *by on Reviewed in Japan 25 May 2025* 最後まで使うには絞りにくいが、再使用の時は剥がれ易く使いやすい ## Frequently Bought Together - Permatex 81160 High-Temp Red RTV Silicone Gasket, 3 oz - Permatex 85080 Ultra Black Maximum Oil Resistance RTV Silicone Gasket Maker, Sensor Safe And Non-Corrosive, For High Flex And Oil Resistant Applications 9.5 oz - Permatex 82194 Ultra Grey Rigid High-Torque RTV Silicone Gasket Maker, Sensor Safe And Non-Corrosive, For High Torque And Vibration Resistant Applications, 3 oz --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.tn/products/294725668-permatex-81160-high-temp-red-rtv-silicone-gasket-3-oz](https://www.desertcart.tn/products/294725668-permatex-81160-high-temp-red-rtv-silicone-gasket-3-oz) --- *Product available on Desertcart Tunisia* *Store origin: TN* *Last updated: 2026-10-21*
