The second problem is the solar cells are rarely good quality, so unless they receive 8-12 hours of optimal sunlight, they will under charge the batteries regularly. As a result batteries, both junk and good quality are often not properly charged by the light. Additionally, they are exposed to poor weather conditions (including high temperatures in the summer and low temperatures in the winter). These will lower the battery life.
