Instead, if features a self-contained hydraulic mechanism that's actuated by cable. The cartridge itself isn't serviceable, which may turn off some of the more ambitious home wrenches among us, but everyone else can rejoice. Instead of bleeding lines and worrying about delicate servicing operations, Gravity's hydraulic cartridge is designed to be removed and straight-up replaced. The post is designed for internal routing, and the cable tension is adjustable. Of course, no internal mechanism is worth its salt -- let alone its weight in gold -- if its body wilts under the duress of off-road abuse. The post's alloy chassis is shot peened, a process that involves firing dense beads at high velocity into the metal. These tiny impacts created a layer of compressively stressed material on the seatpost's surface, which makes the post's overall structure more resistant to fatigue by virtually eliminating the formation of microcracks.
