The logo is just painted on the blade and comes off fairly easily. **Q: Is it hollow or wedge?** A: The Gold Dollar razors, including model 208 are somewhere between half hollow and full hollow ground. This razor will come factory sharp, which means it may be sharp enough to cut you, but it is no where near sharp enough for a decent shave. If you do not have the proper hones and skills to make the razor "shave ready", I suggest you purchase the razor from a reputable vendor that will hone the razor before shipment. However, honing will add about $25 to the cost of the razor. The Gold Dollar razors are not high quality steel, but once properly honed, they are capable of providing a decent shave. Just do not expect the edge to stay sharp for any length of time. These are good razors for anyone learning to hone. I purchased several models for honing practice. When I get a new hone, I test the stone on a Gold Dollar to see how the stone behaves. The razors shave well enough that I and still include them in my razor rotation. However, I do not recommend them for anyone who is new to straight razors. Learn to shave with a higher quality razor from a reputable manufacturer and a reputable vendor who knows how to hone the razor properly. **Q: where was it made?** A: Gold Dollar razors are inexpensive razors made in China. Most of them will have both cosmetic and functional quality issues. As they come from the factory, they are quite dull. Generally, they are capable of providing a decent shave once honed by a knowledgeable person. They are ideal razors for practice when you are first learning to hone. They are not ideal razors for a novice to straight razor shaving. Unless you have honing capability or know someone who does, I would not recommend purchasing this razor. That being said, there are some vendors who hone Gold Dollar razors to shave ready condition prior to shipment, but they will be far more expensive than the price quoted here. I purchased a Gold Dollar razor from Wet Shaving Place. They sell Gold Dollar 208 and 800 razors either as factory dull practice razors or honed to shave ready condition. My shave ready GD 800 blade was a decent first razor. I have now acquired a number of better razors, but still shave with that first Gold Dollar as part of my razor rotation. Unfortunately, there are some vendors who advertise shave ready blades, but they do not have the skill to hone them to the point they will provide a close, comfortable shave.
